Quote Of The Day – Robert Byrne

Today’s Quote Of The Day comes from Robert Byrne (1930-), an American author of seven novels (Thrill), seven books on billiards (Byrne’s Standard Book of Pool and Billiards) and five collections of humorous quotations (The 2,548 Best Things Anybody Ever Said), which means he knows a thing or two about famous quotes.

Byrne is also an accomplished billiards and pool champion and instructor. At the age of 12 he hustled the gas meter reader out of 85 cents on the family’s home pool table. Makes me want to up my own game for when the PG&E man comes around our place again.

Given our presidential election is coming up in only five days, and we don’t have a truly great, obvious candidate to choose from, I thought this quote was particularly relevant as we prepare to vote the lesser of two evils into office on Super Tuesday as our new Commander-In-Chief and Leader of the Free World. (Shiver.)

That said, this is going to be a very close election folks. Please, for fuck’s sake, if you’re an undecided voter or a pissed-off Bernie supporter, choose either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for President and resist the temptation to cast a protest vote for someone who can’t and won’t win. You’re smarter than that. It’s a waste of your vote and you could be helping the “wrong” person get elected. Vote with your head and not your heart. Thank you, and God bless ‘merica.
