Barnes & Noble released its new NOOK today to compete against Amazon and Apple. The NOOK HD comes with a high definition screen available in 7″ (NOOK HD) and 9″ (NOOK HD+ Slate) formats and a lighter body, retailing for $199 or $269 respectively.
Pre-orders start today with the product shipping in late October.
You can compare how these new offerings match up with Barnes & Noble’s existing devices, namely the NOOK Simple Touch and NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight and decide if it’s right for you.
But can it really compete against Apple’s iPad? Really? I don’t think so. But if you’re looking for something more simplistic and family-friendly, then perhaps you should take a serious look at it.
