Bookstore Spotlight – Bookshop Santa Cruz

Bookshop Santa Cruz is a large family owned general independent bookstore located in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz, California since 1966. Bookshop Santa Cruz fills over 20,000 square feet with a wide selection of new, used and sale books along with extensive magazine, card and gift sections.  Bookshop Santa Cruz is known for its comprehensive children’s and new release sections as well as strong sections in travel, politics, cooking, science and fiction, and has been voted “Best Bookstore” in Santa Cruz County for more than 15 consecutive years.

Santa Cruz itself is an amazing seaside town with excellent surfing (home of the Mavericks Surf Contest), a great food scene, cool shops, and the world-famous (if you live in the Bay Area anyway) Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk that includes the Giant Dipper – a wooden roller coaster built in 1924. (Although there is no fucking way in Hell I will ever ride that thing personally.)  If you like Indian food you should check out Royal Taj India Cuisine. So good. And grab a pie at Pizza My Heart, a local institution. There’s a great breakfast place there too that we love, but I’m not going to tell you where it is because there’s already too much of a line out the door as it is.

Bookshop Santa Cruz supports local authors and is currently carrying my book Free Love – True Stories of Love and Lust on the Internet. Be sure to support your local indie bookstores. Books make great gifts and Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching!
